In the spirit of service, the Rho Beta Sigma Alumni Chapter of Gwinnett County, GA, engaged with the community throughout December to bring joy to young people for the holidays.
Christmas reads were held for Anderson-Livsey Elementary School in Snellville and Rosebud Elementary School in Loganville on December 14. Brothers shared Christmas stories and passed out candy to help the kids celebrate the holiday season and upcoming winter break – and, above all else, foster a love of reading. To quote Bro. James Weldon Johnson, “You are young, gifted, and Black. We must begin to tell our young, “There’s a world waiting for you; Yours is the quest that’s just begun.”
The Chapter adopted Anderson-Livsey in 2022 and continues to build a positive relationship with the school.
The brothers also held the Chapter’s annual Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Toy Drive event on December 19. Donations more than doubled this year from 2021, with over 500 toys collected for kids and teens up to age 18. With the help of Julia and Taylor from the organization’s donations department, the event was a tremendous success. Several young people had a little added cheer this Christmas season because of what was truly a team effort.
Rho Beta Sigma has partnered with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a provider of nationally-ranked pediatric care, since 2021.
