On October 14, the brothers of the Rho Beta Sigma Alumni Chapter sponsored its first blood drive.  Held at Berean Christian Church Gwinnett in Snellville, Georgia, the event was a success, drawing 27 donors from the community. Among them was Bro. Ucal Palmer (pictured above), Phi Beta Sigma’s Georgia Director of Social Action. Blood donations remain a pressing issue, as the Red Cross’ national blood supply has decreased by approximately 25 percent since early August. Donating is especially important in the black community, where many people suffer with sickle cell anemia – a disease that often requires patients to rely on blood transfusions.
